Not one, not two, not three, but four were the gold medals, that the athletes of the Local Rowing school and the Real Club NáuticoTorrevieja have brought back from Asturias.
These four gold medals were obtained in only four available categories, ie, one hundred per cent of success as overall winners of the prestigious Primavera Cup
The Spring Cup XIX held on May 21-22 in the Santa Cruz Reservoir Trasona-Corvera (Asturias) produced up to 400 rowers in the different categories of youth, children and veterans from all of Spain, from eleven “communidades”, already involved in this sport. They all came prepared to raise this prestigious trophy. Until then the male and female youngsters of the Real Club Náutico Torrevieja already showed them selves.
Racing began on Saturday. With a very pleasant temperature the young athletes were performing preliminary tests, which were used to pick up confidence and gain on the race course to be able to show their good work in the final on Sunday. The first to surprise and fighting a thrilling gold were the crew of the female Double Scull Patricia Rodriguez and Elena Hurtado. After this the second gold was for another girl, Carmen Vila as the fastest skiff, has impressed more than one. In the male category Skiff, Alejandro Viñuela, thrilled the audience with a first place. He reached the fourth joy in the morning.
The four men Scull formed by Rafael Prats, Victor Muñoz, Daniel Marco and Juan Miguel Perez took over the race from the start always leaving their rivals behind them.
Finally the female Double Scull with Alicia Sánchez and Clara Roselló that by winning the B got a deserved third place.
We can be very proud of these athletes and their coaches, since from this Spring Cup competition promotion of the national Olympic rowing becomes more and more important. This competition is the front room of the Championship of Spain and it is the right time to check the status of athletes who have proved themselves more than worthy. Congratulations to all.
