November 27TH , The Environment Fund II Regatta was held in Calpe organized by the Federation of Rowing Valencia and Real Club Náutico of Calpe. Of the ten races scoring in the league of Rowing fixed bench, two including this one were already done. The first was held in Oliva and it showed the strength and preparation of all teams starting in the new season.
In Calpe, the day dawned cloudy and cold. The wind and sea were remarkable, but this did not stop rowing enthusiasts and the general public to come out to the jetty and enjoy the “fights” between the boats.
At approximately 9:30 am the competition began. According to the categories, the distances involved were male veteran and veteran women’s 5000m 3000m. The boats left holding the order of arrival of the last race in Oliva. As usual, the veterans were to turn first who stayed in their position and with Miguel Angel S. Valero keeping all his talent as a helmsman and serenity that gives his long experience at sea they were placed in the third best time. Later, it was the turn of the veterans, led here by helmsman Adam, always prepared for any problem, to get his team to overcome all kinds of foul weather, no wind, rain and waves prevented him from finishing in second place. These two teams are picking up a special award for dedication and sacrifice almost every day.
On December 11 there will be a reunion of all the teams in our waters in Torrevieja, thanks to the Environment Fund III Sailing, the Fishermen’s Association has organized. There, all the sailors shall be back to doing what they love most: row and of course, try to win. Until then, congratulations to our athletes and keep fighting.
