Yesterday, December 31st 2011, our dear, funny, and surprising Christmas Ham Race – for the Don Chuletón Trophy, took place, the year’s last event with which our sailors and friends from other yacht clubs, enjoy a lot of fun on New Year’s Eve, sharing snacks, jokes and good wishes for 2012.
The Ham Regatta is sponsored by DON Chuleton, the company that offers the top three overall, some vouchers for the purchase of their tasty products and succulent ham to be split between the participants and this time it went into the hands of our member John Wright, skipper of the boat WISE CHOICE. John, in a wonderful act of generosity, donated the ham to Caritas. This race’s fun element means that the last five qualifiers receive surprise trophies this year coming in the form of a boat made of jellybeans. More trophies were awarded for the Spring Regatta, consisting of six drink vouchers offered by sponsor Pizzeria el Muelle.
The Halcon Viajes Trophy was also awarded to the first classified overall in the crossing to Santa Pola: “a one-week trip to Tenerife for two people.”
Finally, all race participants posed for the group photo that in the last three years was taken to celebrate the victory of Real Club Náutico in the Interclub Cup for the South sector.
We end this little chronicle about a morning of fun and joy, wishing you a Happy New Year … 2012!
